Congratulations to all of you who have completed the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology Graduate United Graduate School of Agricultural Science and received doctoral degrees. This year, as the spread of coronavirus infections over the past year has forced us to overcome various inconveniences, we have to overcome more difficulties than ever before in writing my doctoral dissertation, and I would like to express my sincere respect and congratulations to all of you for your great efforts.
So, how does it feel to have the highest academic title of a Ph.D. here? With the support of Supervisor and other lab members, as well as my family and friends, I was able to open up a new world of academia on my own, which is truly wonderful. There is no doubt that the evidence and achievements that show that this is what you specialize in are a great foundation for those of you who are going to open up new paths in the future.
And I would like to share with you once again about this PhD. This is not only a matter of greatly improving one's expertise, but also of recognizing the rigor and importance of mastering one thing through actual experience, and opening up a great path for demonstrating one's abilities in any matter in the future. In addition to the activities that have been tackled on a daily basis, we have the ability to look at the issues that the world is currently facing, natural phenomena that no one has yet noticed, and problems in the world with our own insight, and to have a great imagination such as what we should do to achieve this, what kind of people we should work with, and how we should prepare to carry out the necessary research and projects. It is the power to make it happen. In reality, working toward such a goal is not an easy task, and you will probably encounter one difficulty after another. However, in the process of writing your doctoral dissertation, you must have experienced many things that did not go as expected or did not go well. This should also lead to understanding the feelings of people who are facing various difficulties and to try to help them. As a result, I am sure that you will have the courage to face the important things that really need to be done, with a great drive that involves people. This is the image of a truly powerful doctor, and I hope that you will be the image of yourself from today.
It is my sincere hope that all of you who have become doctorates with your diplomas in front of you will continue to demonstrate your immeasurable abilities and play an active role as indispensable people for the future.
